V5 (ADM) Upcoming Network Infrastructure Updates Jun 30, 2025 00:00-00:01 EDT

Dear Valued Customer,

As part of our efforts to minimize data usage while maintaining standards of security and scalability, we are implementing backend infrastructure updates starting in early June. This update will eliminate the VPN for kiosks and use a modern, scalable networking solution.

The update will happen seamlessly behind the scenes and there should be no negative impacts on your business. However, approximately 1% of kiosks may require onsite assistance to power cycle the router or further troubleshooting. Specific guidance will be provided should this occur.

FAQ
Q: Why are you making this change?
A: Maintaining the VPN tunnel and Meraki telemetry consumes significant data. With cellular networks as the preferred connectivity, this is no longer scalable given the prevalence of low data cellular plans.

Q: What network protocol are you switching to?
A: Amazon MQTT. MQTT has been part of our infrastructure for several years and 10,000+ 365 devices are already using the protocol.

Q: Are the Network Requirements changing?
A: The FQDNs and ports for MQTT and TeamViewer have always been included in the Network Requirements. Therefore, we do not anticipate any modifications will be necessary for upstream firewalls. Additionally, the Network Requirements have always incorporated the *.prod.365rm.us wildcard, which encompasses all infrastructure associated with this change.
We are adding one new FQDN for advanced remote troubleshooting and two new ones for future MQTT scaling, however these would also be covered by the existing wild card.

Q: Will any of my local network settings change impacting WIFI or connected DVRs?
A: No, we’re leaving all local network configuration as is, which includes any existing IP address or subnet scopes, DHCP reservations, SSID and port forwards.

Q: Will my data still be secure over the network?
A: Yes, all data in transit continues to be fully encrypted.

Q: What about locations that are using a full tunnel Meraki VPN template?
A: Locations using a full tunnel template will not be updated to use MQTT.

Q: What about my 365 Dining locations?
A: Dining locations will not be impacted and will continue to use the VPN.

Monitoring - We have identified the cause of the issue, and the intermittent local modes have fallen back down to normal levels. Devices previously in local mode have re-synced all data to the servers. Our teams will continue monitoring the environment to ensure no residual issues remain. Scheduled - Dear Valued Partners,

365 will be performing maintenance on our V5/ADM system on Saturday, 06/28/2025, beginning at 11:00pm and ending at 3:00am EDT.

During this time kiosks will go into local mode but will recover on their own. Please note that your customers will still be able to make purchases on the kiosk while in local mode.

In addition, you may experience downtime in ADM, the 365 Inventory Application, and the 365 Pay Application. Once the maintenance is complete all data will resync, and nothing will be lost. Our teams will be monitoring all systems during the entire process.
